Ministry of Inreach
INREACH speaks of the second direction we are
stretching and extending ourselves. Here we begin to communicate on the horizontal plane.
In Galatians 6:10 it says, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all,
especially to those who are of the household of faith.” We see that Father expects us
to take good care of one another as brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus is our elder brother.
The term “especially” in Galatians 6:10 establishes the household of faith as a priority over
others. This would be the same expectation as in our natural families. We are expected to care
for our own families before giving care to someone else’s family. Inreach then becomes our
second priority of purpose.
1 John 4:19-20 (NLT)
We love each other as a result of his loving us first.
If someone says, "I love God," but hates a Christian brother
or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don't love people
we can see, how can we love God, whom we have not seen?
The Ministry of Inreach has three major objectives:
1. The first objective of is membership. The emotional and spiritual benefit is that sense
of belonging that each person needs. The Scriptures teach that we are members of one another. We
can not “go it alone.” We need each other in order to be built up in love. We also receive
tremendous emotional and spiritual benefit through serving each other. If we see a brother
or sister in need we are to minister to their need.
2. The second objective fellowship. We read in Acts 2:42 that the believers continued in
the Apostles’ doctrine and FELLOWSHIP. We can not claim to be walking in the light if we are
not having fellowship with one another. We see the emotional and spiritual benefit is one of
supporting each other.
3. The third objective is discipleship. The Scriptures teach that we are to make disciples
or devoted followers of Jesus. A disciple is a disciplined learner. A disciple is one who
continues in the Word of God.
